I’m not sure who we have to thank for putting The Family Dinner on an Everest-sized pedestal, but I’ve got a club soccer schedule I’d like to show them.

Sure, having the whole family sitting around the kitchen table — at the same time — eating a homemade meal and sharing witty, thoughtful, intelligent conversation is pretty cool. But so is winning the lottery, and parents with kids who play sports may have more luck with scratch-offs than made-from-scratch.

Congratulations to FSC alum Kayla Hatmaker (G2001 – United/Howard Community College) for being named to the NJCAA Division II All-region team!

From the article:
Hatmaker was counted on as a lockdown defensive midfielder, being asked to control the pace of play on both sides of the field and playing a crucial role on the team. Her biggest performances came against the best teams as she was often tasked with shutting down the opponents best attacking players.

Freedom Soccer Club is happy to announce a sponsorship agreement with Dick’s Sporting Goods.

At DICK’S Sporting Goods and the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, we believe Sports Matter because participation in sports makes people better. Sports increase confidence and motivate kids to stay in the classroom and aim for higher education. They help build character and teach life lessons that extend well beyond the playing field. That’s why we’ve made it the mission of our Sports Matter programs to give your athletes the opportunity to play.

Through this sponsorship, FSC will be able to offer our membership savings on their sporting good needs via several e-coupons throughout the year.  Additionally, there will be an FSC shopping event July 30-August 2 during which FSC members will be able to save 20% off of all in-store purchases at either the Westminster or Ellicott City locations.  More information on this shopping event will be forthcoming as the date approaches.

“Development over results” is a philosophy we strive to follow at Freedom Soccer Club.  For a coaches and players, this can be challenging when faced with the expectations of parents that often times want to focus on winning above all.  These expectations from parents (and yes, sometimes coaches), of winning and being perfect can oftentimes create players who play to avoid mistakes rather than players who take chances and learn through their mistakes playing the game.
