Ben Hiebler, Carroll County Player of the Year

Last night FSC gave our “Graduating” coaches a huge thank-you from the club. Erik Johnson and Mark Milewski both coached their kids (Erik – Grace and Mark – Owen) from u8 to u18 and both are great examples of what the Freedom model of coaching looks like. Erik achieved a top-10 gotsoccer ranking and will be sending 4 players to play soccer in college, one to play lax, and one to swim. This is what Freedom Soccer Club is all about and exemplifies the FSC way.

FSC Director of Coaching Brian Boussey presents Erik Johnson (L) and Mark Milewski (R) with a gift of thanks.

FSC President Dave McCormick presents Erik Johnson (back) and Mark Milewski (front) with a gift of thanks.

Freedom Soccer Club would like to thank B2003 Arsenal (HC – Mark Milewski) for all of the time and work they put in during their time with FSC.
The three seniors capped off their soccer careers in Eldersburg with an undefeated 8-0 high school record at Liberty High School where all three were named captains. As is the norm in our club, the young men excelled in the classroom as well as on the field.
The club is proud of your accomplishments and wishes you the best of luck in all of your future endeavours.
Owen Milewski – University of Rochester
Ben Hiebler – Virginia Tech
Chimwemwe Chinkuyu – Princeton University

FSC Blast Red (G2003/2002) recently wrapped up its final season in fine fashion, winning their final three games by a combined score of 11-0. The Blast Red seniors closed out their FSC careers on a very high note, capping many years of hard work, dedication, teamwork, and of course, impressive soccer. In addition to being amazing athletes and soccer players, the Blast Red players, seniors and juniors alike, are also incredible scholars. Of the seventeen seniors on the team, all of them will be attending college in the fall. Listed below are the Blast Red seniors and their chosen schools:
Abby Barnes West Chester University
Emma Bauer – Shenandoah University (soccer)
Hannah Bauer – Penn State University
Kate Boussy – Boston College
Maia Burger – Salisbury University (soccer)
Olivia Carlile – University of North Carolina, Wilmington
Makayla Crosby – East Carolina University
Kara Gossard – Virginia Tech
Hannah Ham – University of Maryland
Ella Henline – Salisbury University
Ella Hollinger – University of Tennessee
Grace Johnson – University of Maryland

Another non-soccer post from Freedom Soccer Club?! Yup. As much as we love our soccer-first and soccer only players, we are proud that we can also support dual sport athletes who play multiple sports at a high level.
Maddy McDaniels was an original member of FSC Blast – G2003.
She played with Blast from u8 to u18 and was an important member of Liberty High School’s girls soccer team, all while also swimming competitively.
FSC would like to congratulate her on her commitment to Case Western Reserve University where she will continue her swimming career.

If there is a model of the FSC way, it has to be G2003/02 Blast (HC Erik Johnson). The team wrapped up their FSC careers today with a 4-0 victory and fittingly Coach Johnson’s daughter Grace scored the final goal.
What is the FSC way?
The team has 5 girls who have been on the team since its inception at u8. Several more have only played for Freedom. A couple joined at u9, others played for Freedom’s 02 team and joined Blast when most of the 02s graduated. 4 of the players will be continuing to play soccer in college, one will be playing lacrosse, and one will be swimming competitively.
The coaches had a vision for the team and constantly worked to make themselves better, the team better, and to find other coaches/trainers to assist with player development. They were incredibly caring, supportive role models for the players.
The team was successful in league play, tournaments, and consistently ranked in the top 20 of the state.
The parents believed in their daughters, the coaches, the team, and the club. They didn’t worry about the “next big thing” to come to the Carroll County or where the grass could potentially be greener. They supported the team in every way possible. FSC would like to thank them for their years of driving to practices and games, hosting team parties, organizing team events, organizing team dinners at overnight tournaments, and so many other things.
Congrats on a fantastic FSC run and we wish you the best in all of your future endeavors.
